Game Over (Don't Stop) (also spelled with "Game Over" stylized in all caps) is the main Game Over theme of Friday Night Funkin'. It was composed by Kawai Sprite and released on the 1st of November, 2020. It appears on Friday Night Funkin' OST, Vol. 1 and Friday Night Funkin' - The Official Soundtrack Vol. 1.

Game Over Screen

If the player fully depletes their side of the health bar during the song (or hits the R key), they will lose and get a Game Over. Upon losing, an X-ray of Boyfriend's skeleton will suddenly appear as it cracks in multiple spots, causing him to gasp in pain or shock and drop his microphone to the floor, where it produces a feedback sound. Around his groin area are two blue and white spheres, representing Boyfriend getting "blue balled." Shortly, the Game Over theme will play as his brain, shaped like the word "retry," fades into appearance. Both his brain and blue balls pulse to the music while his hands continuously twitch.

From here, players can either choose to start over or go back to the menu.

In the pause menu, players can see the number of times they lost in a track via a counter in the top right corner that says "Blue Balls." The counter goes up by 1 every time the player restarts a track that they lost.

It is impossible for the player to receive a Game Over while practice mode is enabled.

Week 6

A unique variation of the Game Over screen exists for Week 6. While it is exactly the same in execution, it is entirely redone to fit with the week's pixel art aesthetic. Additionally, a chiptune rendition of the normal Game Over music plays instead.

Week 7

Another variation of the Game Over screen exists for Week 7. During the week's final track, Stress, both Boyfriend and Girlfriend's skeletons will be visible. Boyfriend's animations are still the same. Girlfriend's skeleton remains undamaged, and she will simply blink in confusion. If the player decides to retry, she will pose in a similar manner to her cheer pose from Tutorial. During the entire week, if the player gets a Game Over, Tankman will mock Boyfriend (or the player) near the beginning of the Game Over screen.

Secret Game Over

An extremely rare variation of the Game Over screen exists that can play during any level or song. In this game over, the background will go black, and Boyfriend will take on a blue shade. He flinches, expecting himself to blue ball; however, when nothing happens, he pats himself for a few seconds and wipes the sweat off his forehead, relieved that he's okay. About a second later, an X-ray of Boyfriend's skeleton appears and the normal Game Over screen will play out. The player has a 1/4096 (0.024%) chance of encountering this game over.
